The International General Certificate of Secondary Education (IGCSE) is one of the most recognised qualifications around the world. IGCSE courses are renowned for developing vital educational skills, including:
IGCSE is designed to be taught as a two-year course for students aged 14 to 16 years. Courses start in Year 9 and conclude in Year 10 and differ for each subject, but throughout there will be a mix of assessment methods, including:
IGCSE caters for different levels of ability and in most subjects there is a choice between core and extended curricula. The core curriculum is based on an overview of the subject and is suitable for students expected to achieve grades C to G. The extended curriculum is more challenging and designed for students who are expected to achieve grades A* to C. Grades achieved through either route have the same value.
At Taman Rama Intercultural School, students are encouraged to study a wide range of IGCSE subjects and follow a broad and balanced curriculum which supports those who continue in the Advanced Programme in Years 11 & 12. Furthermore, there are compulsory and optional subjects.
The subject options at Taman Rama School assist students in qualifying for the International Certificate of Education (ICE) – an additional qualification that recognises students who pass exams in seven or more subjects from the defined subject groups. Successful IGCSE examination passes demonstrate the foundation knowledge required for study in the Cambridge Advanced Level (A-Level) programme.
Cambridge ICE is the group award of the International General Certificate of Secondary Education (IGCSE) and requires the study of subjects drawn from the five different IGCSE subject groups. It gives schools the opportunity to benefit from offering a broad and balanced curriculum by recognising the achievements of students who pass examinations in at least seven subjects.
Students automatically qualify for the ICE certificate by taking examinations in seven subjects. These examinations must include two language subjects and at least one subject from each of the other subject groups. The seventh subject can be chosen from any group. Students sitting for more than seven subjects will have their best results considered for the ICE award.
Our students consistently achieve excellent results in their Cambridge international examinations.
Cambridge international examinations are taken in either May / June or October / November.
Our after-school extracurricular activities programme provides a wide variety of options for students.
